Sneak Peek :: Tim

Meet Tim.  Funny and independent, Tim has a style that is all his own.  From his swooping pompadour hairstyle to his slightly sardonic take on modern hipster style, Tim’s look is the perfect compliment to his bold, artistic personality. Continue reading

Sneak Peek :: Jared

Meet Jared.  Tall and athletic, Jared has a long-and-lean look that cameras love.  Add to that his fair skin, blue eyes and thick mane of wavy, reddish-brown hair and you have the perfect formula for some classic Irish good looks.  Maybe that’s why I felt compelled to set my Ed Sheeran playlist to repeat while I was editing his photos.  Somehow it just seemed appropriate… Continue reading

Sneak Peek :: Maddie

Meet Maddie.  Easy-going & personable, Maddie wins the award this year for the quickest turn around between the date she first contacted me and the date we did her senior session:  one week!  That is a rarity this time of year, but she was anxious to squeeze her session in before school started and I just happened to have a time slot open that fit into her schedule.  It’s awesome when things work out that way!

Because Maddie wanted a natural setting and she was scheduled for late afternoon, I anticipated a full-sun scenario where we’d be working primarily in the shade or capturing backlit images.  However Mother Nature had her own thoughts, Continue reading

Sneak Peek :: Liz

Meet Liz.  She loves to ride horses, teach others to ride horses, and swing dance.  This young lady is a cowgirl through and through.  Therefore, it should have been no surprise when Liz asked if we could include not one, not two, but THREE horses into her senior portraits.  And yet somehow I was a little surprised.  Being the ‘city slicker’ photographer I am, I can honestly say I’ve never photographed a horse in any of my portrait sessions.  In fact I’ve hardly ever been around horses, except for a few touristy chuckwagon dinner excursions, which (let’s be honest here) hardly qualify as horseback riding at all.  But I love a creative challenge, and so I happily took on this assignment. Sneak Peek :: Olivia

So what do you do when you find out just days before your senior portrait session that the location you had so carefully chosen is CLOSED?!  I don’t mean closed as in ‘never going to open again’, but closed as in ‘so very inconveniently (i.e. annoyingly) closed on the day you just happen to have chosen for your session’.

Bummer.  BIG bummer.  Especially when you are looking for a location that combines natural open fields, rustic barns, tennis courts, and a place to play the ukulele.  That’s right, the ukulele.

As a corporate wellness director with the American Heart Association, and yoga instructor with special training in trauma-sensitive & restorative yoga, Lindsey works to find innovative solutions to help individuals, communities, and organizations cultivate systems that lead to better health and well-being.  As she so eloquently states, “I want people to feel at home and alive in their bodies, lives, and workplaces.”

When Lindsey asked me to be the photographer for her online and professional portraits, I knew she needed a fresh approach that would reflect the same sense of balance she seeks to foster in her clients. Continue reading

Follow Up: Bold, Brave & Beautiful

A few months ago I did a photo shoot with Shannon, who has alopecia, a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the hair follicles.  The response to this photo shoot has been amazing – an overwhelming outpouring of love and support for Shannon.  Thea Chassin, the founder of Bald Girls Do Lunch (an alopecia support network) saw the photos of Shannon and decided to interview her to talk about being diagnosed with alopecia and how her photo shoot with Studio B Photography gave her confidence.
